U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., gave the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Obergefell v. Hodges:

"Today, our nation's long march toward equality moves forward, never turning back. This historic day is long overdue for too many Americans, but we now embrace a future where marriage equality is the law of the land. Our government must treat people equally, and today's monumental ruling establishes that for millions of families -- and for all of history."
